It shows the constituent parts of a Fiber optic cable; the core, which carries the data signal, the cladding which the photonic signals of the data bounce off as they traverse the core, the coating with protects the cladding, the strengthening fibers which make the cable more rigid, and the jacket which is composed of insulating rubber.
